Magnetically driven outflows from accretion disks in X-ray binaries and active galactic nuclei

报告摘要

The jets/outflows can be accelerated by the large scale magnetic fields threading the accretion disks. Large-scale magnetic field is a key ingredient in jet formation mechanisms. We briefly describe how the large-scale field is formed in accretion disks. We find that some puzzling observational features in X-ray binaries and active galactic nuclei, such as, (1) the hysteretic state transition observed in X-ray binaries; (2) why do only a small fraction of quasars have jets? (3) steady jets are present only in low/hard state of X-ray binaries, can be explained with accretion disk-outflow models.
